Merry Christmas 2010!

My new office had a simple Christmas makan-makan & gifts exchange session on 23.12.2010 afternoon.
We had Domino Pizzas and some side orders.

We also had a  Santa Claus in the office.
It was featured on The Star's Thumbnails section on Christmas Day 25.12.2010, sent in by my colleague.  Please help vote, ok? :-)

Everybody was excited during the gifts exchange session.

The Season of the Witch is Here

It certainly is the season for Nicholas Cage because he has two movies about witches and sorcerers this year.  The other one being The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which premiered in July.

So, what is a 'witch'?


According to MacmillanDictionary.com, a witch is 'a woman in stories who has magic powers.  A man with magic powers is usually called a wizard'.  Its synonyms include conjurer, enchanter, magician, necromancer, occultist, sorcerer, and many more.  Locally a witch is called the 'bomoh' or 'dukun'.


Speaking of witch (pun intended), the first scary thought that came into my mind was Mona Fandey.  I first saw her appeared on TV3's Muzik-Muzik back in 1987 singing Ratapan Anak.


I was like... bleargh!  Malaysia dah ketandusan artis ker?  How did she even get the chance to appear on Muzik-Muzik?  Her song was terrible.  Her voice was horrible.  Her appearance?  There was absolutely something very scary about her!

It was a few years later in 1993 that she became famous for a witchcraft murder case.  I only recalled having seen her on TV3 before after following her case on the printed and electronic media.

To cut the long story short, she, together with her two accomplices -- her husband Mohamad Nor Affandi Abdul Rahman, and their assistant Juraimi Hassan, were convicted of the murder of politician Mazlan Idris.

All three were executed on 02.11.2001.

The other image that came into my mind about witches is this one:

  

Uhuh... it's not the image of the stereotyped ugly witches, but the image of one of the three witchcraft victims from the movie The Blair Witch Project (1999).


I see fear and hopelessness in her eyes.  I see the final moments in her eyes.  It gives me goosebumps!  I guess it is probably one of the most recognisable images around on the internet.  Don't you agree?

So, will Season of the Witch leaves a lasting, memorable scary moments on you like Mona Fandey and The Blair Witch Project did on me?


This you've gotta find out yourself.  It premieres on 06.01.2011.  Go witch watch it!  


Oh BTW, it's rated PG13.  ;-)

Harga minyak naik 5 sen jer...

My favourite 'Kung Fu Hor' at the restaurant downstairs is now RM8.00 from RM7.00 just a few days ago.

Every other dish now is at least 50 sen more expensive.

When asked, the Tokeh said the prices of everything has gone up, so he can't help it.  His workers are also demanding higher pay.

So that's how 5 sen can spiral into nonsense.

First Posting: A New Beginning

Finally I'm blogging for the first time since I first registered in July 2008.

I've never been happier!
I just started work at this new office on 2010.12.01.

Luv my new colleagues, they are a wonderful bunch!

Luv my new boss, he's sharp!

Luv my new office environment, but there's still room for improvement.

We celebrated Nafisah's birthday on 2010.12.15 and decided that we should do this more often.
Whose birthday next?
