Left-handedness

Not my hand.

According to Wikipedia, about 8%-15% of the world population are left-handed.  I feel the percentage should be higher, hence I created a poll below to get a rough picture if Wikipedia was right.

Yesterday at lunch, my two left-handed colleagues (designers) and I happened to sit together on one table.  While eating, a girl colleague sitting next to us on another table noticed the awkward sight of all three of us eating with our left hands, and said that alotta creative people tend to be left-handed. 

That reminded me of another occasion a few years back when I visited the KLCC Petronas Art Gallery.  We were required to sign the guestbook before entering.  I saw the couple in front of me signing with their left hands.  That made three lefties in a row to sign the guestbook.  How often do you see this?

At home, four out of us seven siblings are left-handed.  My mum's left-handedness gene is so strong!

In 1992, the three U.S. Presidential election candidates, George Bush, Bill Clinton and Ross Perot were all left-handed.   The current U.S. President Barack Obama is left-handed, and was voted the Left-Hander of the Year 2008.

Among other famous left-handed celebrities are Lin Dan, Lady Gaga, John Cena , Rafael Nadal, Sylvester Stallone, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise, Whoopie Goldberg, Mark Wahlberg, Mickey Rourke, and Keanu Reeves.  Not forgetting the famous painters of all times -- Leonardo da Vinci and Michaelangelo.  Sesame Street's Kermit the Frog and Bart Simpsons are also left-handed!

BTW, did you know that August 13th is International Left-Handers Day?  Well, now you know.
